Bhai could have spent more on story rather than VFX to make him look young
So with the ongoing pandemic and lockdown, Salman Khan decided to release Radhe directly on OTT rather than waiting for movie theatres to open up. To be honest that is the best decision by him looking at how Radhe doesn’t deliver the entertainment it promised.
The movie is about a cop Radhe who believes in being one many army and has taken to defeat the drug mafia run by Rana (Randeep Hoda). While he falls in love with a model played by Disha Patani her brother played by Jackie Shroff is his senior doesn’t like him in the beginning.
Radhe was one of the most hyped movies since the day it was announced during the promotion of Dabbang 3. So needless to say all the Salman Khan fans had high expectations from him. Due to the ongoing pandemic, the release was shifted from 2020 to 2021 especially with lockdown as Bhai made a commitment that it will be released in theatres.
But with nothing hidden, it was visible that an extended lockdown was required for safety so Bhai decided to release it on both platform OTT and theatres. Since the theatres never open the movie was only release on OTT along with a TV channel where it can be rented for 1 day at premium prices.
Well, we all deserve to thank Salman Bhai to not release it in theatres. This would have made many people regret spending money on the hall well a cheap alternative was available with something that doesn’t require so much money to invest. The movie has nothing more to offer apart from the glorified image of Bhai which he thinks is becoming the only success formula of his movies. With VFX being dedicated to making him look younger and of course show his abs with graphics misplacing his belly button talks about how the whole city is terrified with a man who roams freely to kill being stopped by Bhai with his super stunt.
Apart from Salman Khan, the movie has a spectacular star cast of no use. Randeep Hooda who has made a big name in the industry with his acting is being played as the name who has to follow what Bhai demands in the script. The real cherry in pao bhaji is that the man who joined forces with Chris Hemsworth in Extraction is being underplayed here to suit Bhai’s ego where he beats him still Bhai stands up to ensure he is Bhai. Bollywood has been gifted with actors like Jackie Shroff but in Radhe, the gift looks more like a curse every time he appears on the screen. This defines his role as nothing but a sidekick kept because Bhai was is in no mood to keep a method actor for such a role.
Of course, since it is a Bhai movie the female character had to be glorified and given the best job to impress Bhai. Fall for him and ignore all realities and common sense. Disha Patani is no less just with the difference that unlike Baaghi 2 and Malang she is still seen post-interval without being dead.
Prabhudeva was once the director of the masses who knew how to catch the nerve of the audience with masala and action. But in the last few movies especially with Bhai as the main protagonist the formula has been just to work on mood and confidence irrespective of, the audience wants it or not. Dabbang 3 was an eye-opener for Prabhudeva and Race 3 for Salman Khan but both didn’t learn from their mistake which can easily be seen in Radhe.
So before watching Radhe just take a deep breath and convince yourself it is like jumping into well with a headache and after the movie is a complete one.
